The Department of Landscape Architecture (ARL) at IPB University once again held an inspiring guest lecture session featuring Ira Puspa Kencana, a Landscape Architect and Owner of Costus Garden, as the guest lecturer. She attended two class sessions on Tuesday, November 19, and Monday, November 26, 2024, to deliver lectures for the Professional Practice in Landscape Architecture course.
In her lecture, Ira Puspa Kencana shared her practical experiences in the professional field, particularly in landscape construction management. “I was invited by IPB as a visiting lecturer for the Professional Practice in Landscape Architecture course. It was a really exciting experience—the students were very engaging. Here, I wanted to share my professional journey, especially in construction management. The response was very positive, with many students actively asking questions,” she explained.
She further added that in addition to discussions, the sessions also included a raw model practice, where students engaged in simulations of vendor processes and role assignments, such as project manager. “This was a valuable experience because the students were not only listening, but also actively involved in simulations that closely reflect real-world practices,” she added.
The guest lecture provided students with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in the professional field of landscape architecture, including project management, vendor coordination, and strategic decision-making. As a token of appreciation for her contribution, Ira Puspa Kencana received a memento from the Department of Landscape Architecture, presented directly by a representative of the department. This special event not only enriched the students’ knowledge but also strengthened collaboration between academia and practitioners in the landscape architecture field.
